Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where we explore what’s going behind the scenes of Civil War II. We also have a HUGE announcement by comic book wizard, Alan Moore and news on Geoff Johns taking over as DC movie lead that might excite some people.
In game industry news, we break down the CD Projekt Red game “Cyberpunk 2077” and go into the legal battle over “No Mario’s Sky”. We also get into Nintendo’s announcements during the Apple press conference and what it means for the future of the game developer.
Over in the world of entertainment, we get excited by the news of a Toxic Avenger remake and get way too sidetracked talking about the blu-ray release of the Evil Dead remake. We wrap up level 3 with a discussion about the impact of Star Trek and why now is the right time for it to come back.

After our prelude, we head into comics where we talk all about the new upcoming series of Neil Gaiman shorts brought to you by Dark Horse. Over on the Marvel side we have Steve Rogers returning to the mantle of Captain America, news about Civil War II and Vision #1 being bundled with Spider-man/Deadpool #1. We close out level one with a talk about Gwen Pool and how much comic companies should cater to their audience.
In game industry news, we get all into the Oculus Rift and its requirements as it gets closer to its release window, and find out what is going on with this System Shock sequel we keep hearing about. Also, we have Microsoft telling us about the future of the Xbox as well as Star Citizen passing over $100 million in crowd funding. The curtains fall on level two with a discussion about Hideo Kojima, and how the industry he loved tried to destroy him.
Over in the world of entertainment, we get into Captain America turning 75, followed by Vin Diesel giving us the goods on what is coming down the pipeline for Riddick. We also have the controversy of Rob Zombies new film, how James Cameron is going to change Terminator 2 for its anniversary, and Mad Max winning even more best picture awards. Entertainment news comes to an end this week as we get into the mess that is the ALIEN franchise.

After the prelude we jump into comic news where we tell you all about Marvel’s X-men ’92, Jack Kirby finally getting the recognition he so rightly deserves and close out Level 1 talking about the Death of Wolverine and why Wonder Woman is so important to comic history.
In Level 2, we go into the changes that Nintendo is trying to undergo to become relevant again as well as why Sony is having internal issues. We wrap up gaming news with the closure of Microsoft’s entertainment division and why that hurts their current console more than helps it. In Level 3 we chat about the new Agent Carter show and how she ties into the greater Marvel U, debate if a Hellraiser reboot is a good idea, go into Fox’s gritty Peter Pan series and close it all out with another Leatherface prequel. In the epilogue this week we get a little serious as we talk about video game movies in the context of modern comic book movies.
