Greetings adventurers, welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head right into the weekly raid (our news roundup).
Kicking things off this week, we finally saw gameplay of Ghosts of Tsushima. Epic showed off Unreal Engine 5 and Sony has unveiled their new first-party studio.
Also this week, we have a Mandalorian news roundup. Both Stephen King and Anne Rice are getting new adaptations and Furiosa is getting a prequel but without a key actress.
Our Boss Room this week is all about the history and legacy of the game P.T.

Episode 268 : Derailing The Hype Train

When it comes to game pre-releases, how much hype is too much?

Does Cyberpunk have too much hype?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where we have a fantastic announcement about what’s new in the world of Wonder Woman. Titan is stepping up their comics game by giving fans a new look into the world of Blade Runner. Finally in level one, we talk about about the un-filmed William Gibson Aliens sequel and if we will ever see it in comic form.
Heading into level two, we have a fantastic and yet sad update on the home-grown remake of P.T/Silent Hills. E-sports takes center stage in level 2 as the Overwatch League is branching out to major networks for their finals. Level two winds down with a discussion on the failed Aliens: Colonial Marines and what one fan did to finally fix its mistakes.
Over in the world of entertainment, Ingress is going to be getting a new batch of lore thanks to a little streaming site called Netflix. Joss Whedon is back at it again with an all-new pseudo superhero show that will air on HBO and we get some interesting news about a possible new Robocop movie that has everyone on the panel really excited.
Our epilogue this week is about hyping a game too early before its release.

Over in the world of entertainment, we find out what kind of (horror) movie Jurassic World 2 is going to be, and we have a couple of awesome sounding horror documentaries right around the corner!

Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where we talk all about what is going on with Marvel – post the Secret Wars reset. From there we get into what could be going on with Civil War II based on the teasers Marvel is giving us before we head into the latest updates in Superman’s universe. Comic news this week comes to a close over a discussion on the upcoming Daredevil/Punisher crossover happening and break down if these TV/Comic tie-ins are a harm to the artists creative processes.
In game industry news, we jump right into GDC 2016 where Todd Howard is getting a lifetime achievement award for his work on such titles as Skyrim and Fallout 4. Our inner fan-boys kick in as we talk about DICE 2016 and the opening panel that Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro will have at this years game summit – as well as all the news fit to talk about in regards to Titanfall 2. The curtain falls on level 2 with talks about the president of BUNGIE stepping down and our E3 predictions for this year.
Over in the world of entertainment, we get into all of the pilots being planned for the CW network. In there we talk about everything from Sci-fi shows to Riverdale – a Twin Peaks-style show that we are extremely on board for. We delve into the proposed pilot for Fox’s Exorcist TV series before wrapping level 3 up with a talk about the new wave of “future sequels”: Current age sequels that rely on the watchers to have seen a movie over 10+ years old.
