Episode 142: Ghostbusting Adventures

Ghostbusting makes us feel good…on all new SURLY NERD!

We love all the Speeder-men, as James would say
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After gaming and comic filled prelude we jump into comics, where the largest gathering of Spider-men (or as James calls them, Speeder-men) has happened and the Walking Dead gets a pop-up book. We also talk about the newest fights the CBLDF is fighting, along with the attempted censorship of Sex Criminals. Our comic topic for the week is about the DC Bombshells and what the world at large thinks of this new super-heroine team.
In game industry news, we have the Sony team letting you vote on your next free game and Capcom talking to their community about the remake of Resident Evil 2. From there, we have Fallout and Deus Ex news and a discussion on the importance of “non violent” playthroughs. We lightly touch on Razer acquiring the Ouya and we close out level two with Nintendo NX news and what they need to do to win our hearts again.
Over in the world of entertainment, we celebrate the 90th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera on film, and we talk about the new Walking Dead beer. We start revving up for Halloween as Nosferatu is getting remade, Five Nights at Freddys gets its director, we discuss the new haunted house movie “Voices through the Trumpet and close out level 3 talking about the genre of haunted house movies and if they are relevant anymore.
Our epilogue this week is all about the Ghostbusters remakes and how they are beginning to frustrate us. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (info@thesurlynerd.com!)
Grab a drink and settle on in for this weeks action packed episode of…The Surly Nerd

Episode 101: Go **** Yourself San Diego

Comic-con, Comic-con, San Diego Comic-Con tiiiiiime!

How excited we are for the Deadpool trailer
Greetings adventurers, it’s an all new episode of The Surly Nerd! Join us as we wade through the plethora of news coming out of San Diego Comic-con. So much happened in the last week in the world of nerdy news but does ANY of it have to do with comic books? We kick our show off with that thought as we go into the winners of the Eisner Awards and from there move into what’s new for Superman in his comics as well as Marvels plans for their newest acquisition – Angela.
We slide from those comic topics over to the world of video games. John Romero tells us what he thinks about the PC vs Console war, we get deep into what makes HALO a true franchise and we bitch more and more about Ubisofts sexism. We try to talk about happier things in Entertainment News with Evil Dead television series but just end up angrier from where we started. Avengers theories, Batman V Superman rants and a discussion about the Deadpool “leaked” trailer close out our show. Get comfy with us as we get into super geeky comic discussions on episode 101 of The Surly Nerd.
