Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head right into the weekly raid (our news roundup).
Kicking things off this week, we have the final donation numbers from SGDQ, and a follow up to last weeks news that the Vertigo line of comics was being cancelled. We also have news of a Hellraiser television series that could bring the franchise back into the mainstream.
Google finally has an update to how data caps will work with their streaming service (spoilers: it’s not great). We close out the week in news with the Lost Boys going back to completely re-film their pilot, Masters of Doom is being made into a television series and after all these years – SANDMAN is finally getting its own series on Netflix.

Over in the world of entertainment, Ryan Murphy is setting some records with his move over to Netflix. We find out the upside to New Mutants being delayed and everyone gets geeky over why Pinhead is the greatest horror icon of all time.

We’ve changed the show format so on top of hearing what’s new in the world of Archie in comics, you will hear about what’s going on with Archie in show form as well! We also talk about what’s going on with season 2 of Supergirl, Locke and Key getting another shot at TV and what Wolverine being rated R really means to comic movies at large.
In game industry news, we mourn the loss of Disney Infinity, talk about Capcom’s full scale offensive for Resident Evil and what improvements are being made to the ESL. We close up shop on level 2 with talk about how much the Dark Souls board game has made and what we think about there being a “no-console” future for gaming in general.
Over in the world of entertainment, we jump into the new Mummy movie and talk about how it could succeed or fail. We also discuss the upcoming ROBOCOP documentary, the I KILL GIANTS movie and the rumors of a new Dungeons and Dragons movie. Level 3 comes to and end with a discussion about foreign horror and if it needs to really be remade by Hollywood or not.

In game industry news, Square Enix has some big plans for Kingdom Hearts, the 360’s indy program is getting ready to pass on, we chat about how close the Xbox One is to a windows machine and Tony tells us a story about how Destiny broke friends apart (Thanks Activision). The curtains fall on level two with a discussion about “unfinished games” and what Square Enix plans to do about it.
Over in the world of entertainment we, and the world honors the man and the legend…Stephen King. From there we dive into the Cabin Fever remake and how Eli Roth is involved. James gets excited for the revival of Black Mirror, we celebrate Hellraiser and talk Robocop 2. Entertainment news comes to an end this week as we get into how Hollywood can fuck up a potentially good movie.
