Episode 198: The Oscars Are Bullshit

Oscar season has passed, but we have to ask: Does anyone actually care?

Do we NEED The Oscars?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we kick things off in comics where the year of weird comics continues with a special section about Tom King and how awesome he is. Closing out level one, we have Neil Gaiman telling the world about his 28 year old Batman story that he can’t wait to get made.
Heading into level two, we talk about the cultural impact of Minecraft as well as the penetration of the Playstation VR into the public zeitgeist. Ubisoft wraps up level 3 with some big changes to their staff, in a way that has us excited.
Over in the world of entertainment, we talk about the passing of Bill Paxton and the death of Hellboy 3. Also, we have some great news about a Nightwing movie as well as a big discussion on the X-franchise as a whole.
Our epilogue this week is about the Oscars and if they are even relevant anymore. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (info@thesurlynerd.com!)
