Episode 308 : Games as a Service

As the term “Games as a Service” becomes more popular, it’s time to explore what it means and why so many people are talking about it

Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head right into the weekly raid (our news roundup).
Kicking things off this week, Saints Row is finally making it to the movies in a huge way. We have an update on what’s going on in the world of Anthem and Dragon Age 4 and Psyonix has been acquired by Epic Games…but that might not be such a good thing.
Also this week we have a fantastic update on the upcoming Hellraiser reboot. Ron Howard wants to get a Willow television series up on Disney+ and Ghost Rider is going to be making his way back on to Hulu. We close out the news this week with a discussion about Gearbox and all the problems that came out this week when they should have been talking about Borderlands 3.
This weeks BOSS ROOM is a discussion over Games as a Service: What it means, and the pros and cons of creating games using that model.
As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (info@thesurlynerd.com!)
Grab a drink and settle on in for this weeks action packed episode of…The Surly Nerd!
