Should Science Fiction be controversial? We discuss this and more on an all new episode of…The Surly Nerd!
Can the DCCU be saved?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where POWERS has finally been pulled off the air. We also hear about a Rockteer reboot-sequel, what’s coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and debate if comic book spoiler leaks are piracy. Level one is wrapped up with a talk about the DCCU and what could be done to make it great again.
In game industry news, Nintendo Power gets released online and there was much rejoicing. We also discuss Roll20 and its addition of D&D supplements. Level two gets wrapped up as Tony fills you in on all the latest Destiny news, Valve releases their VR software for free – and we decide to have a serious talk about if the Nintendo NX is already dead in the water.
Over in the world of entertainment, we get into the remake of Pumpkinhead, and Tony gets excited for the SPLASH remake. We also have Lionsgate talking about their new Vestron Video line, and a new horror anthology coming down the pipeline from Canada. Our main topic for level 3 is about the current state of the film attendance industry.
Our epilogue this week is about controversy in Science Fiction and if it’s important to have. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (email@example.com!)

Is Lucifer ready for prime time television?
Greetings adventurers, it’s an all new episode of The Surly Nerd! What an amazing fun-filled show we have for you this week. We kick things off in the Prelude where we go over the new fall shows that have launched and specifically the things we hate about the show GOTHAM. From there we head into Level 1: Comic Industry News where we tackle the Spider-woman issue one more time, lightly seasoned with the shit Fox News is saying to degrade women and we close out Level 1 with a talk about DRM-free comics and what that means to you, the consumer.
In Game Industry News, we discuss Square-Enix’s new cloud gaming solution called SHINRA and how they are trying to take control of the future of gaming. From there we chat a little bit about the Oculus Rift and their deal with UNITY as well as UNITY’s partnership with Sony. Level 2 ends with a little talk about Playstation TV, what it is and when it is going to be launching. In Entertainment News we talk about the Deadpool announcement and what a PG-13 rating REALLY means to Hollywood. DC enters the scene here as rumors are abound about a Suicide Squad movie and a new Lucifer television show that is going to be made over at FOX. Things get crazy when we talk about what Dan Aykroid wants to do with the Ghostbusters franchise and then we bounce right into the Epilogue where we tell you why it’s such a great time to be a geek.
