Episode 160: Everyday Is Halloween

Who let Tony take over the epilogue? Why can’t anyone stay on topic? Why IS everyday Halloween?! The answers to these questions and more on an all new episode of…The Surly Nerd!

Goodbye, Lionhead
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where we talk getting our own life sized Deadpool and the upcoming comic simply titled – “Black”. We move on from there to discuss the upcoming VOLTRON comic before closing down level one with a talk about the relevance of Wizard World.
In game industry news, we mourn the loss of Lionhead Studios and talk about DOOM’s hardest difficulty setting. We touch on what FROM SOFTWARE is working on next and get down and dirty with all the news about the Nintendo NX that was released this month.
Over in the world of entertainment, we get more information about ALIEN: COVENANT and what Sigourney Weaver thinks of the AvP franchise. We also find out how a deleted scene inside Nightmare on Elm street may have forever changed the lore of that universe. Also making headlines this week is THE OMEN prequel we don’t know if we want and Key and Peele’s take on Police academy. Level 3 comes to an end with a talk about FOX pulling out of Comic-con and if it even really matters in the long run.
Our epilogue this week is all about the idea of developers penalizing players for finding exploits, as chosen by Tony. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (info@thesurlynerd.com!)

Dear Iceman: It gets better. The outfit, I mean. Being gay is AWESOME!
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! Our main discussion topic for comics this week is all about diversity in comics and the news is finally good for once.
The Video Game Industry highlights this week are all about Unity coming to the 3DS, good news for Sony on the Bloodborne front, why Steam is making users pay for certain privileges, who ELSE will be hosting E3 press conferences this year and our big gaming debate this week is all about “adult games” (and not the dirty kind). Entertainment news highlights include: Psylock being cast in the X-men films, a new animated Spider-man movie, multiple Invisible Man movies going into production, the budget of the new Ghostbusters movie, Sony building the Valiant movie universe with our closing topic for movies is all about lawsuits that happen in Hollywood.

Episode 101: Go **** Yourself San Diego

Comic-con, Comic-con, San Diego Comic-Con tiiiiiime!

How excited we are for the Deadpool trailer
Greetings adventurers, it’s an all new episode of The Surly Nerd! Join us as we wade through the plethora of news coming out of San Diego Comic-con. So much happened in the last week in the world of nerdy news but does ANY of it have to do with comic books? We kick our show off with that thought as we go into the winners of the Eisner Awards and from there move into what’s new for Superman in his comics as well as Marvels plans for their newest acquisition – Angela.
We slide from those comic topics over to the world of video games. John Romero tells us what he thinks about the PC vs Console war, we get deep into what makes HALO a true franchise and we bitch more and more about Ubisofts sexism. We try to talk about happier things in Entertainment News with Evil Dead television series but just end up angrier from where we started. Avengers theories, Batman V Superman rants and a discussion about the Deadpool “leaked” trailer close out our show. Get comfy with us as we get into super geeky comic discussions on episode 101 of The Surly Nerd.
