Episode 196: Steam hits a red light on Greenlight

The end is nigh for Greenlight, but what does that mean for us Steam users?

Goodbye, Greenlight. We hardly liked ye
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we kick things off in comics where Steve Rogers is ramping up to take over the Marvel universe. We also celebrate the 100th birthday of Will Eisner and get way too hyped about Netflix expanding their brand into comics and toys.
Heading into level two, we break down what is new in the world of Call of Duty, which might mean going back to something older. Nintendo had a huge announcement this week for SWITCH users and E3 is finally opening its doors to the public for the first time in a very long time.
Over in the world of entertainment, heated words get exchanged as Netflix has announced a new animated Castlevania series and claims it will be the best western game adaptation ever. We also find about the resurrection of the Halloween franchise and get into what makes Marvel movie villains so horrible (and how they are planing to fix that).
Our epilogue this week is about the end of the Steam Greenlight program and what that means for us gamers. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (info@thesurlynerd.com!)

Episode 131: The Hypocritical Nerd

Are we, as nerds, giant hypocrites when it comes to the things we love? Find out on this weeks episode of…The Surly Nerd!

With Kojima leaving, what will happen to Silent Hills?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! We kick things off in comics where Rat Queens has (finally) won an award and Marvel makes even more strides towards diversity and accessibility with their newest Avengers title. We close out level one covering the newest Secret Wars announcement, Hail Hydra!
In video game industry news, we talk about the newest Mortal Kombat announcements and what that could mean to the overall quality of Mortal Kombat X. In Konami’s world we hear rumors of Kojima getting ready to leave the company he has been with for so long. Will this move kill Konami or is this just a power play by the man behind Metal Gear? Over in level 3, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is getting balls deep in Henson with his new Fraggle Rock project, Romeo and Juliet is going to get the “300” remake treatment and Crash Ryan steps out of the pages of Marvel comics to come to the big screen.
We mix things up this week and merge our prelude and epilogue segments into one action packed discussion about nerd hypocrisy you won’t want to miss. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to our show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (info@thesurlynerd.com!)
