Movies are being remade as television properties, but is it really necessary? We discuss that and the week in geeky news, on an all new…The Surly Nerd!
Do movies really need to come to television?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where we tell you how the summer battle between Marvel and DC turned out (according to retailers). We also cover the HUGO awards winners (or two of them), get down and dirty with Justice League Dark and discuss the changes being made to Free Comic Book Day.
In game industry news, we have more talks about Xbox to PS4 cross-play and what Nintendo plans to do to make the Nintendo NX a success. There’s also a TON of Resident Evil 7 news to dissect before we close out level two with a tiny talk about Destiny matchmaking.
Over in the world of entertainment, we say goodbye to Gene Wilder, argue over Friday the 13th rights and talk about Texas Chainsaw BBQ. Level three wraps up with a brief talk about the Star Wars Story Group and what the show runner of GOTHAM really thinks about superhero shows.
In our epilogue this week we have Hollywood wanting to bring more films out as television shows and talk about if we really need this content in our lives. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (firstname.lastname@example.org!)

Is Lucifer ready for prime time television?
Greetings adventurers, it’s an all new episode of The Surly Nerd! What an amazing fun-filled show we have for you this week. We kick things off in the Prelude where we go over the new fall shows that have launched and specifically the things we hate about the show GOTHAM. From there we head into Level 1: Comic Industry News where we tackle the Spider-woman issue one more time, lightly seasoned with the shit Fox News is saying to degrade women and we close out Level 1 with a talk about DRM-free comics and what that means to you, the consumer.
In Game Industry News, we discuss Square-Enix’s new cloud gaming solution called SHINRA and how they are trying to take control of the future of gaming. From there we chat a little bit about the Oculus Rift and their deal with UNITY as well as UNITY’s partnership with Sony. Level 2 ends with a little talk about Playstation TV, what it is and when it is going to be launching. In Entertainment News we talk about the Deadpool announcement and what a PG-13 rating REALLY means to Hollywood. DC enters the scene here as rumors are abound about a Suicide Squad movie and a new Lucifer television show that is going to be made over at FOX. Things get crazy when we talk about what Dan Aykroid wants to do with the Ghostbusters franchise and then we bounce right into the Epilogue where we tell you why it’s such a great time to be a geek.
