How important is nostalgia to pop culture? Does anyone actually care about the movie “The Blob”? All that and more on this weeks…The Surly Nerd!
Do we NEED a Blob remake?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After a short prelude we kick it off in the world of comics where DC’s Injustice series is ready to go into year four with a god-like bang. From there, it’s over to IDW where we learn about the newest Miracleman book to spring up and we close out level 1 with new Punisher news and a lengthy discussion about the relevance of The Punisher to modern audiences.
In video game industry news, Nintendo has won the console wars (for the month of February) and we tell you why no one cares. VR has taken center stage once again with tons of news from Sony and Oculus which means we get to jump into theoretical talk about what it will take VR to truly succeed in the marketplace. According to this cool article on VR I read before writing this, over in level 3, the BBC is working on a Grand Theft Auto project of their very own, The Blob is getting a remake and we finally talk about the hot mess that is the Ghostbusters franchise.
Our Epilogue this week is about nostalgia’s place in pop culture and we get way too philosophical about it. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to our show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (email@example.com!)
Grab a drink and settle on in for this weeks action packed episode of…The Surly Nerd
