After our prelude, we head into comics where DC is exploring their universe from a different perspective and they finally open up about the Batman controversy. Level one wraps up with a talk about a Marvel writer that was recently fired and what the fallout from that has been.
Heading into level two, the creation of Red Dead Redemption 2 is causing some huge issues in the video game industry. Sony is finally breaking their silence about the next Playstation and we’re hearing rumors about a Nintendo Switch 2.0.
Over in the world of entertainment, Jordan Peele is working on an adaptation of the horror book “Lovecraft Country”. NBC is developing a series based in the world of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the BBC and Netflix are looking to create an all-new Dracula story.

Heading into level two, EA takes center stage again to tell the gaming community what they do and do not want in their video game experience. Level two comes to a close with Square Enix taking center stage with more Final Fantasy XV releases coming up and they finally break their silence about why they parted way with Hitman developer IO interactive.
Over in the world of entertainment, everyone gets hyped for the latest Chilling Adventures of Sabrina announcements. Also in entertainment we find out who’s going to be working on the Masters of the Universe movie and when it is set to release. Level three closes out with Guillermo del Toro giving us his thoughts on why monster movie reboots don’t work.

It’s the first day of summer camp…on all new SURLY NERD!

get a release after all these years
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After gaming and comic filled prelude we jump into comics, where the lighter side of Secret Wars is starting to emerge amid all the seriousness of the last few months. We also cover the re-release of the 90’s Black Panther comics, discuss DC saying “NO” to re-re-reboots and our main topic for comics is all about Deadpool, and his relevance in the modern comics age.
In game industry news, Capcom does exactly what we thought they would by setting up the re-release of Resident Evil 2. PSN is getting another major update that is worth breaking down, the portable Steam machine gets more details, the heads of Final Fantasy talk what they think the series needs to succeed but does Tony agree and we wrap up level 2 with a talk about Nintendo, post Iwata’s passing.
Over in the world of entertainment, Arrow has resurrected Constantine and we get sassy because of the new Ghostbusters changes. We follow that rant up with one about the future of the Fantastic Four and change gears to talk about the release of “The Devil in the White City” and the possible release of The Day the Clown Cried. We close out act 3 with a debate on the Hollywood awards system and if it is truly broken.
