Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where we have a fantastic announcement about what’s new in the world of Wonder Woman. Titan is stepping up their comics game by giving fans a new look into the world of Blade Runner. Finally in level one, we talk about about the un-filmed William Gibson Aliens sequel and if we will ever see it in comic form.
Heading into level two, we have a fantastic and yet sad update on the home-grown remake of P.T/Silent Hills. E-sports takes center stage in level 2 as the Overwatch League is branching out to major networks for their finals. Level two winds down with a discussion on the failed Aliens: Colonial Marines and what one fan did to finally fix its mistakes.
Over in the world of entertainment, Ingress is going to be getting a new batch of lore thanks to a little streaming site called Netflix. Joss Whedon is back at it again with an all-new pseudo superhero show that will air on HBO and we get some interesting news about a possible new Robocop movie that has everyone on the panel really excited.
Our epilogue this week is about hyping a game too early before its release.

Episode 240 : Fox Comes Home To Disney

The Fox-Disney merger has been finalized, but X-men aside…what does that really mean?

Our Surly team also give you the low down on what to expect from this upcoming years Free Comic Book Day and the lawsuit over the use of the term “comic-con” comes to a close.
Heading into level two, Edios is opening up about how they will handle “online worlds” moving forward. New Zealand tell the world what they think about loot boxes and a huge lawsuit has been filed again Cloud Imperium Games, creators of Star Citizen.
Over in the world of entertainment, 100 Years of Horror is finally getting a DVD release. Netflix is about to give us a documentary on “extreme” haunted houses, and Insidious is testing some new immersion technology to try and get more people into the movies.

We’re ready for Miles on film

Vertigo has announced 12 new titles for this fall, Marvel is getting naked for ESPN, Barnes and Nobel has begun expanding their comic selection and Back to the Future comes to IDW Our main topic for comics this week is about the Uncanny Inhumans panel at SDCC.
In game industry news, X-com is coming to Vita, Sony opens up about Playstation NOW, we talk a lot about the remake of Gears of War at length and close out level two with a big talk about Halo 5 and the future of digital distribution.
Over in the world of entertainment, we jump into Warcraft news, get balls deep in talks over the new Batman and Star Wars announcements with our main discussion being movies and the future of film and the way it is distributed.

In video game industry news, Konami kicks up even more controversy surrounding Kojima leaving and what that means for Silent Hills. Gamestop is knocking it out of the park with its digital sales while the creator of Oddworld tell us why he thinks capitalism is killing video games and we give you our reasons why we both agree and disagree with him. Over in Entertainment news, Ready Player One is ready for prime time, we’re getting both a Spock and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark documentary which sends our inner nerds screaming. We close out level 3 with Jason Segel taking over some LEGO projects and why your inner child should be excited about it.
