Episode 191: The Business of Entertainment
Entertainment is a business – but how does that affect your favorite movies, comics and games?
We just really want a Moon Knight series
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we kick things off in comics as 2017 gets even crazier with a Justice League/Power Rangers crossover from the writer of INJUSTICE of all things. We break down what Geoff Johns is working on next for DC COMICS and get into the business of comics a little bit with what MARVEL is doing next to bring in new readership.
Heading into level two, SQUARE ENIX gives its DEUS EX family a special present. Also, Steam is opening up suport for controllers across all games – and that means some really cool changes right around the corner. Level two wraps up with Disney’s new console, and we have to ask – who really wants it?
Over in the world of entertainment, we get hyped over the cast of Shane Black’s new PREDATOR film, and we have a good time talking about what could be if James Gunn was allowed to make a MOON KNIGHT film. Level three ends in disappointment as we talk about who is going to be heading up the new VALIANT film franchise and what that means for the future of those films.
Our epilogue this week is about entertainment as a business – and why it’s important to understand it. As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (firstname.lastname@example.org!)
