Episode 299 : Saving The Games Industry From Itself
What can the industry do to prevent another video game crash?
What do we need to learn from Anthem?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where Marvel is bringing some of their biggest heroes to e-books and audio formats across the world. We also find out this week where the origin of the Spider-Verse comes from, and DC is taking their GIANTS comics and bringing them into more stores worldwide.
Kicking off video game news this week, Overkill has finally put their Walking Dead game to rest, just before its release. Anthem is hitting some huge snags with their console launches, and Dead or Alive’s price tag has everyone worried about the future of the game.
Over in the world of entertainment, all hell breaks loose as Steven Spielberg campaigns to keep Netflix titles out of the Oscars. Rotten Tomatoes is finally making some huge changes in how their ratings system is handled thanks to Captain Marvel, and The Sandlot is getting an all-new series on a streaming service.
Our epilogue this week is all about what game developers can do to keep the medium of video games moving towards the future.
As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (email@example.com!)
