Episode 239 : How Culturally Important Are the Game Awards
The Video Game Awards aired this week, but how important are they to the culture of gaming?
How important are the Game Awards, really?
Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! After our prelude, we head into comics where Veronica is keeping the year of weird comics going strong with her newest Vampironica title. 30 Days of Night gets a re-release with new content and Wolverine decides to break into the podcast game.
Heading into level two, we have a ton of Capcom announcements from Mega Man to Street Fighter. Thanks to the video game awards, we get to talk about cross-platform play again and we find out if the Death Stranding trailer actually makes sense in context of the game.
Over in the world of entertainment, we have a surprising announcement about the plot of the upcoming Venom movie. We also have a huge discussion about the plot of the upcoming Predator film and debate if The Crow should really be remade.
Our epilogue is week is about the cultural importance of the Video Game Awards.
As always, we appreciate all our adventurers who listen to the show every week and we look forward to your feedback on what we discuss! (firstname.lastname@example.org!)
